Here are some of the questions most of our clients have …
What is included in my ticket price?
- All food and beverage tastings.
- A professional tour guide. Our guides are professional improv actors who love food and fun.
- Our partners offer discount coupons that are exclusive to our tour participants. These coupons alone are a reason enough to come on the tour!
Do I have to purchase tickets in advance?
Yes, tickets must be purchased online or over the phone in advance. We try to accommodate bookings up to 11:00 am on the day of the tour if seats are available. Best to book in advance if you can. Tickets can be purchased with Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or with a PayPal account.
How much food is served on the tours?
We make several stops for food and beverage tastings on our tours. For most people, there is enough food and beverage tastings that they feel they had had a full meal. You should come hungry.
We will visit some merchants who will offer you specialty coffee, teas and local beers. There will be stops where you can get water, but you are welcome to bring along a bottle of water with you.
How much walking is involved?
The tours are 2.5 hours in length but we sit down at a few venues on each tour. We walk at a very casual pace and the tour runs for 5-6 city blocks. The streets are flat and easy to walk. We like to think of it as a leisurely stroll with food and interesting conversations and stories.
What if I have food allergies, dietary needs or restrictions?
Please note that tastings on our tours may include products containing gluten, dairy, seafood, eggs, nuts, and other allergens. If you have dietary restrictions that limit you from eating these foods, these tours may not be suitable for you as we cannot provide substitute tastings. We do offer vegetarian options and gluten-free options on our Gastown and North Vancouver Lo Lo Food Tours.
How many people can attend a tour?
The maximum number of people per tour is typically 16. We can add a few more on some tours. We require a minimum of four guests for a tour to commence. If you have a private or corporate tour, we can accommodate more people by having two tours running half an hour apart.
Does this tour have anything to offer local Vancouverites?
Definitely! Many of our attendees live right here in Vancouver. Locals often attend to learn about the history, new restaurants and unique eateries that they have yet to discover. We have lots of great reviews on Trip Advisor that attest to locals loving the tours.
Are gratuities included in the price?
Yes. There is no need to cover tips at any of the restaurants or shops we visit. However our Taste Vancouver Food Tour guides do accept gratuities. If you had a great time, gratuities are greatly appreciated by our guides and they work hard to insure you have an amazing experience. A standard gratuity for a professional tour guide in Vancouver is 15-20% of the tour price.
Can I shop on the tours?
Yes, but we ask that you please wait to shop until after the tour is over as the guide and the partners are on a schedule. We host the informative tour and food tastings in a timely manner. Allow time at the end of the tour to return to your favorite merchant partners to take advantage of our exclusive discount coupons, only available to our tour participants!
Can I get a ticket refund or reschedule my tour?
Once a ticket has been purchased, we cannot refund the ticket price or reschedule your tour date. Your space has been reserved and guaranteed for you for that tour, so please plan accordingly. No partial credits or rescheduling is allowed for partial attendance, no shows, or late arrivals. Also, please show up 15 minutes before the tour starts to meet the other guests and to get an overview of the tour before it starts. Tours depart on schedule so be sure to be there on time.
Are the walking tours given in bad weather?
Yes, all of our tours are held rain or shine. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and dress appropriately for the weather on the day of your tour.
Are tours offered only in English?
Yes, we only offer tours in English at this time.
Are these tours children friendly?
Children are welcome on the tours, but please bear in mind that some children have a limited attention span, and therefore a 2.5 hour tour may not be appropriate for them. Parents know their children best and should assess the situation individually. Strollers are not recommended due to the many narrow sidewalks, uneven cobblestone streets and certain staircases that we use when entering our food partner establishments.
May I bring my dog on the tour?
Due to the health regulations that govern the various food establishments we visit, pets of any kind are not allowed on our tours.
Are any of your walking tours wheelchair and/or stroller accessible?
Our Little Italy Food Tour and North Vancouver tours are wheelchair accessible. Unfortunately, our Gastown Food Tour cannot accommodate wheelchairs or strollers due to the many narrow sidewalks, uneven cobblestone streets and certain staircases that we use when entering food partner establishments.
If a tour does not meet the minimum required number of 4 tour guests, Taste Vancouver Food Tours reserves the right to cancel the tour and reschedule to another date.
